Edgar David's assistant-national team coach Kingdom

Edgar Davids has been added to the staff of the New Zealand National Team that will come out at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in Group A . The staff now consists of Louis van Gaal, assistant Danny Blind, goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek and 74-time international Edgar Davids.

The 49-year-old former international succeeds Henk Fraser. He indicated that he wanted to concentrate fully on his coaching career at FC Utrecht.

Louis van Gaal is convinced

Coach Louis van Gaal: "our paths have crossed regularly in the past and I am convinced that he will fill this role in a great way. The players can make the most of his experience as an international at, among other things, four international final tournaments”.

Davids: “I am not only proud but also super excited that I can continue my career as a trainer together with such a renowned trainer as Louis van Gaal and can work with the absolute top of New Zealand.”

Davids played for the New Zealand national team 74 times and was captain 12 times. He played at three European Championships and one World Cup.

His greatest successes came at Ajax and Juventus. With Ajax, he won the Champions League and became the national champion three times.

Davids did an internship at FC Twente and Telstar. As an (assistant) trainer he worked at Barnet, Telstar and Olhanense. As a coach, Davids has not yet been able to pay for successes. Perhaps he will succeed in this together with Team Louis van Gaal during the World Cup 2022 in Qatar .
